SAFETY AND QUALITY COORDINATOR- Plastics Industry - Glendale, WI

This exciting direct hire salaried position offers an opportunity to provide safety and quality training and ensure compliance. Recommends and implements action plans to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials. Safety Responsibilities:

• Conducts safety audits and hazard assessments. Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations and make recommendations for improvement.

• Designs and conducts safety training, meetings, education programs, and demonstrates the use of safety equipment for all three Pitt Plastics, Inc facilities. * Develops and enforces appropriate safety rules, policies and procedures.

• Investigate incidents, report only, first-aid and near misses to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.

• Acts as contact representative for all incident reporting information both to and from Inteplast Corporate Safety * Report or review findings from incident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.

• Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.

• Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illness and accidents.

• Maintain all safety record keeping documents including; OSHA 300 logs, investigations, corrective actions and job safety analysis.

• Work closely with HR to manage workers compensation claims and return to work programs.

• Expectations would be that a minimum of fifty percent (50%) of your time per week will be focused on this role.
In the event of OSHA visit, incident investigation or other high priority safety issue may require immediate focus and additional time allocation to this role.

• Provides documentation and communications of inspections results including necessary corrective measures.

• Provide Assist in new employee occupational health and safety orientation.

• Assists in the enforcement of Inteplast safety policies and environmental health guidelines

• Recommend the purchase of needed safety equipment and supplies.

• Maintain an open line of communicate directly to the Plant Manager and Supervisors; for follow up or action on any safety concerns, complaints, incidents or issues. * Provides or oversees technical testing and surveillance services as may be necessary (IH sampling/annual hearing test)

• Assures that all programs and training are in compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) standards.

• Leads by example at all times, clearly setting a high expectation for safety and teamwork.

Quality Responsibilities:

• Investigate all plant quality issues.

• Work with Production management and Customer Service to investigate/solve quality issues.

• Write, create, revise procedures and work instructions for all departments and train as needed.

• Work with Customers and suppliers to investigate quality issues.

• Create and/or write communication documents for Sales/Management upon request.

• Perform customer required testing; prepare for and oversee customer audits/visits .

• Communicate product non-conformances to production supervision in order to maintain efficiency and produce as little scrap as possible.

• Verifies specified dimensions of product or material. * Selects products for tests at specified states in production process and test for variety of qualities, including purchased finished goods.

• Ensure samples, either raw materials or production are provided by production personnel and tested in a timely manner.
