  • 1st shift openings! $11/hr

  • 2nd Shift $11.50/

This position may work in a variety of departments depending on time of year, skills, interest and need. Departments may include Production or Packaging of Ready to Eat and Fresh products. A successful candidate will ensure compliance with safety, quality and sanitation requirements. In addition, this candidate will be able to work in cool temperatures, have good attention to detail, and a commitment to product quality.

Responsibilities - Production

• Work on food manufacturing machines to safely and correctly load product casing and start and stop the machines as needed.

• Inspect products for obvious visual quality issues such as equal link length, proper twist and casing tears.

• Check basic quality of products while doing other tasks of the position. This may include tying the loose ends of links, rechecking twists in sausage links, and noticing visual differences with product.

• Load finished sausage strands onto the racks to be sent to the Smokehouse.

• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment by placing empty racks into the proper locations.

• Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment.

Responsibilities – Packaging

• Start and feed product into appropriate machine.

• Work on the label process to fill the label dispenser when required and put the correct labels on varying products.

• Fill racks with product and replace full racks with empty racks.

• Manage packing conveyor to keep it full and keep the product on the conveyor.

• May be responsible for pocket loading which is the process of putting product into the plastic wrap before it moves through the machine.

• Inspect products for obvious visual quality issues such as size, color, and shape.

• Prepare product for shipping through the correct labeling of boxes, fill box or bag with product, and load boxes onto pallets for shipping.

• May be required to move pallets to the receiving dock.

• Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment.

Qualifications

• Commitment to safety and quality

• Good attention to detail

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and packaging information

• Ability to understand basic addition and subtraction

Physical Activities and Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 90 lbs repetitively

• Ability to stand for long periods

• Ability to work in 35° – 48° F
